About the PAHI FrameworkThe Partnership Framework for the Partnership on Avian and Human Pandemic Influenza (PAHI) was established on 1 November 2006 by the Government of Vietnam (reprsented by the Chair of the National Steering Committee for Avian Influenza) together with representatives of UN agencies, bilateral and multilateral donors, non-governmental organizations and research agencies. The purpose of the Partnership is to facilitate implementation of Vietnam's National Integrated Operational Programme for Avian and Human Influenza 2006-2010, also known as the Green Book or OPI. The Green Book has been endorsed by the Government of Vietnam and international partners as the medium-term country programme on Avian and Human Pandemic Influenza, with the overall objective to reduce the health risk to humans from avian influenza: (i) by controlling the disease at source in domestic poultry, (ii) by detecting and responding promptly to human cases, and (iii) by preparing for the medical consequences of a human pandemic. About PAHI SecretariatA Secretariat Office has been established within the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), under joint supervision by MARD and the Ministry of Health to support the activities of the Partnership, which focus on information sharing, policy dialogue, and joint overall monitoring of resources and activities. The Secretariat personnel includes director, vice director, manager, coordination and partnership specialist, accountant, coordination officer of the IMCAPI2010, information officer and secretary. |
