H5N1 outbreak reported in Kon Tum

02 February 2010, an avian influenza outbreak was detectedin a family in Dak Me village, Bo y commune, Ngoc Hoi district. 1,273 layer ducks, 157 chickens, 64 muscovy ducks and 250 eggs.

Indonesia: Mass chicken deaths confirmed H5N1 positive

Thousands of chickens confirmed to have died of bird flu H5N1 virus in Kabupaten (regency) Kapuas. A total of 6615 chickens died in 7 sub-districts: in kecamatan Basarang 3909, in Selat 360, in Petak 953, in Kapuas Hilir 422, in Kapuas timur 255, in Kapuas Murung 500, and in Kapuas Kuala 16 chickens.

CHP investigating case of influenza A (H9N2) infection

The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health is investigating a case of influenza A (H9N2) infection - a mild form of avian influenza - involving a 35-month-old girl.The girl, living in Sha Tin, developed symptoms of cough, fever, and runny nose in late November 2009. She was admitted to the Prince of Wales Hospital and was discharged on 11 Dec 2009. She has now recovered.

AI outbreaks detected in Cao Bang province

On 12 December 2009, avian influenza outbreaks were detected in 25 households in 03 villages of Thong Nong district, Cao Bang province. A total of 55 poultry were infected or dead.
